Still stuck despite the work you've done?
You can name the pattern. You just can’t seem to stop it.
Most conventional approaches focus on making symptoms smaller.
I help you grow around them.
You know your patterns well
They probably look something like this:
There’s an invisible barrier between you and what you’re actually capable of. You can see what you want. You just can’t get there. Every time you get close, something pulls you back.
You’re the one holding everything together, because you are the most capable. At work, in your marriage, in your family. You’re giving more than you receive and the resentment and exhaustion are building.
You achieve things and know you are capable on paper but you still feel like a fraud. The guilt and fear of being found out don’t respond to evidence or logic.
Underneath all of it: self-doubt, anxiety, anger that keeps coming back no matter what you do with it.
You’ve probably called these unreached potential, sabotage, burnout, imposter syndrome, or codependency.
You’ve been labeling and describing them. Working on the thoughts and the behaviors.
But they persist because they are actually the symptoms of something deeper.
Hi, I'm Sara Taylor, PhD.
Neuroscientist. Former psychology professor. Generational and existential coach.
The people who find me have done significant inner work and are still hitting a wall. Existential burnout. Repeated career or creative sabotage. Overfunctioning and overresponsibility. Guilt around success. Anxiety or anger that don't resolve no matter what they do.
I work at the intersection of generational healing, family systems, and somatic approaches. The layers underneath what the other work couldn't touch.

WHAT THE OTHER WORK COULDN’T TOUCH
All of your patterns have something in common.
Most of what keeps you stuck lives in the shadows.
The emotions you’ve learned not to feel. The family stories no one talks about. The loyalties you didn’t know you had.
We think we’re the only ones carrying the shameful or hidden things. We’re not.
The more you say yes to what is actually there, the more of yourself becomes available to you.
It stops draining you and starts fueling you instead.
WHAT LIVES IN THE SHADOWS
Family Double Binds
An unconscious loyalty to the family’s rules, no matter the cost to you.
Generational Trauma
Unknowingly living out someone else’s unfinished story.
Inherited Emotions
Emotions that loop no matter what you do, because they didn’t start with you.
What Actually Changes
People come to this work for a reason they can name.
They leave with something they didn’t know they were missing.
She came trapped — in her job, in her house, in the anger she couldn’t shake after a hard year. She left with something she didn’t expect: a connection to her great-grandfather’s immigration story that had been quietly shaping her life, and a level of trust in her own instincts she hadn’t had before.
“My imposter syndrome is less and when it does creep up, I can usually tell it to go away.”
“Their stories are my stories too, even if I didn’t know them in person.”
She came because she wanted to get her career back. She left knowing who she is.
“I know the depths and the shadows, and the highs and the nooks and crannies where things were hidden. I know things that I didn’t think were there. That affects everything — every outward expression, every interaction, every creative output, everything that comes from me.”
She came because her insides didn’t match her outsides. Loving husband. Good relationships. Couldn’t feel any of it.
“I realized I am trying to end human suffering by myself and let that go. I don’t know how to make that sound as big of a deal as it is in words. Because it is a big deal.”
WHY DID THE WORK STOP WORKING?
Why You Hit a Wall in Therapy is a self-assessment of where you hit the ceiling, and what’s likely underneath it.
