KIDNEY & ADRENAL SUPPORT FOR STRESS RELEASE

The kidneys regulate fluid balance and the adrenal glands are amplifiers and regulators of the stress response. They signal to the rest of the body that there is a threat and with chronic or traumatic stress they tend to get stuck in the “on” position. This generally gets associated with emotions and states like fear, anxiety, anger, overwhelm, exhaustion, and collapse.

Somatic Guided Meditation

This meditation aims to provide support, including in the form of touch,  to your kidneys and adrenal glands in order to restore their natural equilibrium and flow. It seeks to refine their ability to discern between safety and danger, thereby optimizing the communication with every cell and tissue in your body for overall well-being.

Inspired by the work of Kathy Kain and Alaine Duncan in their book The Tao of Trauma, this touch-based meditation offers a gentle yet powerful experience.

Hand Position

This meditation involves the use of self-touch, with your hands on your back beneath your kidney and adrenals. It can be easier to access while sitting, and for some of us it’s just not accessible.  That’s not a problem, you can just place a small pillow, warm wash cloth, heating pad, or even an eye pillow underneath or behind the mid-back to provide support.

what to expect

Most people experience a deep softening, relaxation, or release of stress and tension, especially with regular use (with or without the audio). Some people also experience the release of strong emotions, like fear, sadness, or gratitude.

If you find that you feel overwhelmed, you can shift your attention away from your body to your external environment.

Optional Preparation

If you find yourself wanting to do this while in a more activated state (nervous energy, anxiety, anger, feeling like you are going to explode),  I highly recommend first doing some push-ups (on the wall works great- let it be easy), squats, or shaking your whole body to discharge that extra energy before attempting to calm or relax.

Your Guide

Hi, I'm Sara, a neuroscientist turned generational and existential healing facilitator. Early life experiences, marked by divorce and familial and personal mental health challenges, lit a fire in me to understand and address the root causes of these issues.

This search took me from religious altars to academic labs and lecture halls, but I ultimately found a balanced fusion of science and spirituality.

I've blended scientific expertise with training as a Wayfinder Life Coach, a practitioner of Norse/Germanic shamanic healing arts, and a facilitator of systemic generational healing based on family constellations.

This enables me to help individuals see, understand, and consciously relate to the unconscious generational and personal events that manifest as recurrent challenges.
